Dorset Town Crier Exercises His Right To Drive Sheep Through Wimborne Town

Posted on April 13, 2021 by Iain Mitchell Posted in News .

Wimborne Town Crier Chris Brown, looking splendid and standing tall, took to the streets of Wimborne Town and exercised his right to drive Sheep through it.

Chris was given this great honour, as he is a magnificent ambassador for the Town being very active and putting a great deal of thought into all he does. But sadly alas, due to the pandemic he has not been able to gather his woolly flock and lead them to the far side. That is over the bridge near the Rising Sun, as he has done so ably in the past. So to keep the tradition alive, Chris can be seen driving a single sheep through Wimborne’s very own Model Town to re-enact the event in safety.

The Model Town has seen some major improvements since when I was last there on a school trip over 45 years ago and it is looking very much like the real thing now. Well done to all those involved.

I think you’ll agree, a magnificent picture too, showing the splendour of the old Town with an extra dash of added splendour of Chris in his fine apparel.
