TWO COMPETITIONS... In TWO DAY!

Day #1 Sat, July 14th: Queen's Diamond Jubilee Town Crier Competition

In honour of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee this year, Criers Bruce Kruger & Shaun Kruger of Bracebridge are proud to host a special Town Crier Competition within Muskoka this summer on Saturday, July 14th.

This will be a two cry competition... one in the morning approximately 10:30 am and the second one at 2 pm on the same day. The subject matter will centre around Queen Elizabeth's Dianond Jubilee celebrations. A dinner will be held on Saturday night to not only announce the winners
of the Queen's Competition but also to celebrate and honour our Canadian Head of State... Queen Elizabeth II.
This will be followed by entertainment by selected Criers who may wish to donate their talents for such a festivity.

Day #2 Sun, July 15th: Muskoka Escapades of Town Crying 11th Annual Competition

This annual event will once again be held in Bracebridge, commencing at 11:00 am for the first Cry at the Muskoka Pioneer Power Show with the second Cry at Santa's Village at 2 pm. Lunch will be served courtesy of that award winning restaurant... Swiss Chalet/Harvey's on the covered patio. Following presentations by Santa Claus for the Annual Trophy and awards, Criers and Escorts will be invited aboard Kris Kringle's Jet Boat (shown below) for a great cruise down the Muskoka River to the Kruger Estates for a BBQ and social time.

Note: - Commitment & Funding

This is prime tourist season within our District of Muskoka and thus accommodations are generally quite expensive at motels & resorts, (average motel $149-$169) however, we have received an unbelievable offer from Nipissing University situated about 5 blocks from our residence. The University this year opened a brand new residence building (shown below) with private bedrooms of four in a pod with a centre kitchen and social room. (Similar in style to Holland, Michigan for the Tulip Time Festival)

The University is graciously agreed to rent their rooms out to the Town Criers at an unbelievable rate of $38.50 (Including taxes!). These will be made available on a first come first serve basis and include single beds, double beds and queens. Depending on numbers, everyone cannot be guaranteed queens! It is completely handicapped accessible. No smoking permitted.

Since no funding to date has been obtained, Shaun and I are incurring the cost of the dinners for Saturday evening plus Sunday lunch and the evening BBQ plus any awards. In other words... this is a definite event regardless of funding. Subject to any additional funding that becomes available, more tidbits may be added to the agenda or put towards room costs.

Special Note: Costs for Persons Not Dressed as Escort

Any person not dressed as an escort must incur any costs where admission may be required if demanded by a venue. (Normally, there is no cost at the Muskoka Pioneer Power Show or Santa's
Village venues but... not guaranteed, Additional venues to be arranged and unknown at this time,  g. Segwun Steamship, Lady Muskoka Cruise, Huntsville Historical Village)

There will be a $15.00 charge for lunch at Swiss Chalet/Harvey's ONLY for persons NOT DRESSED and $25.00 for same attending the Awards Dinner. These costs will be deducted from the $50.00 Entry Fee.

Due to this peak tourist season and availability of rooms, I must know ASAP who is committed to attending this outstanding event? Please advise me by March 30th by completing the questionaire below and returning by email. Also, a NON-REFUNDABLE cheque/money order for $50.00 must be received by April 30th for your guarantee attending.

Additional information will be provided in a few weeks regarding the various events including the Cry Content & Submission Date... right now the important thing is to register and guarantee your attendance and rooms!
